The Federation of University Teachers’ Unions has expressed its opposition to the government’s attempt to make education an essential service. They say that they do not approve of making it an essential service as a way to avoid the professional problems in the field.
Prof. Shyam Bannahaka, President of the University Lecture’ Association, who spoke to the media, said that it is important for the authorities to work positively to solve the problems in the education sector. He mentioned that “a certain service should be an essential service considering the importance of that service and the service that can be provided to the people of the country through that service”.
He further said that the Executive Committee of the Federation of University Lecture’ Association will meet in the next few days and is ready to do the best.
