Pharmacies educate to save two million people coming to Kandy from drug abuse..

In conjunction with the Dalada vista, an awareness campaign was held yesterday (07) with the intervention of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board among drugstore owners in Kandy.

This was implemented in conjunction with the program launched by the government to save the nearly two million people who come to Kandy to worship the Tooth Relic from drug abuse.

While purchasing the medicines they need from drugstores, shop owners were made aware of the criteria used in the sale of medicines that can have a negative impact on human life.

Many issues were raised including taking into account medical recommendations, being vigilant in the sale of over-the-counter medicines and avoiding the sale of medicines to minors. A sticker was also pasted by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board to educate customers visiting drugstores.

This program, launched under the patronage of the Divisional Secretary of Kandy, Kadawatha Satara and Gangawata Korala, Mr. Menaka Herath, was conducted under the guidance of the Kandy District External Services Officer of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, Mr. T. Ariyaratne, with the participation of officers from the Kandy Headquarters Police, the Kandy District Director of Health Services, Public Health Inspectors and others.
