Doctors’ strike .

The Government Medical Officers’ Association has informed the authorities to immediately arrest and bring to justice the individuals who threatened doctors and other health staff at the Kalutara Nagoda Hospital.

They have warned that they will launch a strike tomorrow (22) if the demand is not met. The association emphasizes the importance of ensuring the safety of all hospital staff in relation to this incident.

Secretary of the association, Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa, said that a group of relatives of a cancer patient who died in Ward No. 16 on the 17th at around 2.00 am had arrived at the hospital. They had been cursing at the doctors, nurses and other health workers on duty there and had behaved in a disorderly manner, obstructing their duties.

He also stated that this group had remained in the ward for about an hour and had threatened to prevent other patients from receiving treatment.

Although a complaint has been filed with the police regarding this incident, it is reported that the suspects have not yet been arrested.
