Kaduwela District Judge Dulani Wickramasuriya issued an injunction today (13), preventing any legal action against the decision made by the executive council of the party to appoint Minister Vijayadasa Rajapaksa as the new president of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The injunction directs the 20 members of the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to allow the party president, Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Acting Secretary Keerthi Udawatta, and the politburo to carry out their related activities without hindrance and prohibits any legal action other than this litigation. This injunction was issued against one person.
The court issued this order after considering a complaint filed by two executive committee members, Homagama seat organizer Isuru Abeywardena and Avissawella seat organizer Sumit Wijemunida Zoisa.
Following a request made by the lawyers Rasika Dissanayake, Dhanuka Lakmal Madhava Jayawardena, and President’s Counsel Ikram Mohammed representing the plaintiffs, the District Judge issued the order.
The District Judge further ordered that interim injunction notices and notices be issued to the respondents to appear before the court on the 27th of this month to present their facts regarding this petition.
