Disaster deaths rise further .

The Disaster Management Center says that the number of disaster deaths due to the disaster situation that has affected all 25 districts of the island has increased to 627.

According to the latest announcement issued today (07) at 12.00 noon, the number of missing persons is 190. 2,179,138 people belonging to 611,530 families have been affected by the adverse weather.

According to the report issued by the Disaster Management Center, the highest number of deaths reported from a district is 232. It has been reported from the Kandy district.

Meanwhile, 89 deaths have been reported in Nuwara Eliya District, 90 deaths in Badulla District, 61 deaths in Kurunegala, 32 deaths in Kegalle District, 35 deaths in Puttalam and 28 deaths in Matale District.

The statement also states that 89,857 people from 27,663 families are still staying in shelters.
