Dilith Jayaweera, a Member of Parliament representing the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ party, has requested that a presidential pardon be granted once again to Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero, following the rectification of errors that occurred during the previous granting of a pardon.
He states that there is an opportunity to properly grant a presidential pardon to Gnanasara Thero once again, provided that the administrative shortcomings highlighted in the court ruling are corrected. Accordingly, he emphasized that this issue could be resolved by properly exercising the powers vested in the President to rectify previous administrative errors and grant a presidential pardon to Gnanasara Thero in a legally valid manner.
