The Committee of Inquiry appointed to investigate and report its findings on Inspector General of Police Deshabandhu Tennakoon in respect of acts of gross abuse of power, has found him guilty of all allegations leveled against the IGP . Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne announced in Parliament today (July 22).
The Speaker further stated that the date for a parliamentary debate on the committee report and the adoption of a resolution will be announced later.
After the resolution is passed in Parliament, the relevant authorities may take additional action. It may be his removal from office or other disciplinary action.
