A teacher and a couple have been arrested for abducting and assaulting a deputy principal of a school in Biyagama.
Police say the suspects forcibly took the deputy principal into a jeep near a temple in Siyambalape, Biyagama on February 4. They then took the deputy principal to a house and assaulted him.
An investigation has been launched into the matter and the couple, aged 37 and 32, residents of Siyambalape, have been arrested.
Investigations have revealed that one of the suspects is a teacher at the same school where the deputy principal works. The kidnapping is said to have occurred as a result of a long-standing dispute between the two parties.
Biyagama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
