The National Dengue Control Unit warns that with the onset of southwest monsoon, dengue will develop into an epidemic situation in the two months of June and July.
Doctors point out that if such a situation arises, the number of patients will increase and the hospital system will not be able to cope. Currently, 300-400 dengue cases are being reported daily, which is a rapid increase compared to last year.
Twenty-three dengue deaths have been reported in the country so far this year. However, the Association of Government Medical Officers states that even though more dengue cases have been reported this year, the reduction in the death rate will be a comforting situation.
