Minister Pavitra Vanniarachchi said that choosing Ranil Wickramasinghe as a leader who can consolidate democracy and rebuild the country’s economy was a very correct decision taken by the Podujana Peramuna government including herself.
She said that at the crucial moment after May 9th, the Parliament had to take an important decision regarding the future of the country, and at that time two people came forward to take the responsibility of the country. “One is a member of our party, Dallas Alahapperuma. The other person is Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe. We had a political conflict with him. But we discussed and decided that he is the leader who can deal with the international community at that time. Today you can see the results of the right decision we took as a party,” the minister added.
She said this while addressing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Beruwala Constituency Women’s Federation.
