Court ruling on paternity case against Chamika Karunaratne.

The Colombo District Court today (31) ordered that written submissions on the complaint filed seeking an order to obtain blood samples for a DNA test in connection with a paternity case filed against cricketer Chamika Karunaratne be made on May 13.

The flight attendant, Peramunagelage Rasika Sewwandi, who has filed this complaint, requests the court to issue a court declaration that Chamika Karunaratne is the father of her child.

The court has issued the relevant order after considering the facts.

The petitioner stated before the court that her minor child was born to Chamika Karunaratne on September 29, 2025.

She further alleges that after she became pregnant, he tried to avoid her and refused to accept the paternity of the child.

She is requesting in her petition that a declaration be issued that the child’s father is Chamika Karunaratne and that an order be issued to the Registrar General to amend the child’s birth certificate accordingly.

She is also requesting the court to conduct a DNA test on both the child and Chamika Karunaratne to confirm this authenticity.
