Court orders Manusha’s bail application .

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered that the anticipatory bail application filed by former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court requesting that he be released on anticipatory bail before being arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to be recalled on the 8th.

That was when the anticipatory bail application was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka Bodaragama today..

An Assistant Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had filed a written objection to this petition before the court. President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris, who appeared for the former minister, requested the court to grant a date to file the replies. Accordingly, the court directed that the relevant written replies be filed by next Tuesday.

Accordingly, the court ordered that the case be considered again on the 8th.

The former minister was recently notified to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption at the aircraft he was flying to when he returned to Sri Lanka from a foreign country. Accordingly, the former minister has filed this pending bail application.
