Member of Parliament Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has decided to resign as a member of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security, which is a key parliamentary committee.
It is reported that Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has decided to leave as the Chairman of this Supervisory Committee is Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara MP and cannot act under his chairmanship.
It has been learned that Party Chief Organizer Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has said that field marshal Sarath Fonseka, who is a veteran with substantial experience in national security, should be in this committee, so he should be forced not to leave that position. It is reported that Muslim Congress leader Rauf Hakeem has requested to appoint him if he leaves the post.
