Change in air quality. People with respiratory problems are at risk

The Central Environmental Authority warns that the air quality in some areas may deteriorate today due to the cyclone “FENGAL” that has affected the southwestern Bay of Bengal.

The Central Environmental Authority stated that the air quality index may remain between 92 and 120 in several areas throughout the day.

A decline in air quality is expected in the districts of Colombo, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kurunegala, Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Puttalam, Badulla, Trincomalee, Mullaitivu, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura today.

The report states that the entry of air pollutants from the north due to adverse weather conditions and air pollution from across the border are the reasons for this situation.

People with respiratory diseases should be careful, as an increase in dust particles in the atmosphere may be harmful to humans.
