Badulla District Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has been granted bail by Badulla Magistrate Nujith De Silva today (19). This was after considering the bail application regarding the relevant incident, on two sureties of Rs. 1 million each.
This bail has been granted in connection with a case filed by the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the alleged misuse of Rs. 1 million provided by a state bank to provide school bags for pre-school children while he was serving as the Chief Minister of Uva Province. .
The relevant incident had occurred in 2016 and the case had been filed against the MP under the Public Property Act.
