Foreign media reports that relations between India and Canada have broken down badly after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that there are credible reports that Indian officials in Canada are involved in the killing of a separatist, a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Nijjar, a Sikh separatist activist fighting for an independent state of Khalistan in India, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Canada’s western province of British Columbia in June.
The Indian government has temporarily suspended the issuance of visas to Canadian citizens in protest of the Canadian Prime Minister’s statement that Indian diplomats were involved.
The majority of the Canadian media today stated that the Canadian Prime Minister’s statement is mere rhetoric without evidence.
