C.E.B lost 45 billion in 6 months due to bill reduction

If the proposed price reduction is implemented, the Ceylon Electricity Board is reported to be losing nearly Rs. 45 billion in the next six months.

Accordingly, sources in the board say that it will have to consider whether this decision is in line with the agreements of the International Monetary Fund.

The Public Utilities Commission has officially announced its recommendations regarding the reduction of electricity rates by an average of 20%.

The Ministry of Energy has stated that a decision will be taken after the approval of the Ministry of Finance. Accordingly, the President, as the Minister of Finance, has been entrusted with the responsibility for it.
