Batu Meiya, who was released on bail, is back in.

Anura Pushpakumara alias ‘Batu Meiya’, who is said to have provided firearms to kill the chairman of the Ambalangoda Modara Devalaya Committee, Miranda Warusavithana, was arrested by the Galle District Crime Division yesterday at the Aluthkade Court premises.

He was remanded in custody at the Boossa Prison after being produced in another case at the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail when he was re-arrested.

The chairman of the Ambalangoda Modara Devalaya Committee was shot dead near the Ambalangoda Municipal Council on November 4th and Anura Pushpakumara alias ‘Batu Meiya’ was accused of supplying firearms.

Several suspects in connection with this murder were arrested by the Galle District Crime Division. It is reported that the arrested suspects have revealed that a criminal named Loku Patty, who is being held in the Boossa Prison, orchestrated the murder.

The police say that the murdered person, Miranda Warusavithara, is the brother-in-law of the criminal named Karandeniya Sudda, and that Batumiyya is also a cousin of Loku Patty.
