Auditor General reveals big secret on retirement day.

Outgoing Auditor General Chulantha Wickramaratne says that investigations into several corruption cases have revealed the involvement of public officials in them.

Chulantha Wickramaratne, who served as the 41st Auditor General of Sri Lanka for 06 years since 2019, retired yesterday after completing his term.

Addressing journalists at the time, the Auditor General said that politicians are often blamed for corruption-related incidents.

“However, investigations into many incidents have found that some public officials are also involved. Signing cheques and vouchers cannot be done by politicians alone. They are done by public officials. If we do not address this soon, we will have to go down this same path,” he said.
