Artistes are concerned about the increase in security fees for musical concerts.

The Sri Lanka Performing Artists Association says that they have been faced with great difficulty due to the increase in security fees for musical concerts.

Its President Chandana Prasad Jayalath points out that despite discussions with the authorities on several occasions, no solution has been found so far.

Chandana Prasad Jayalath, who further commented, said,

“Today, the performing arts in Sri Lanka have fallen. I don’t think any government will try to revive this. Actually, the first problem we have is the amount paid to police officers. Actually, it used to be 950. Today, a police constable has to pay 4,950 and an SI 5,500. The fee increases with each rank.

Today, for a musical performance, we have to pay more than 150,000 to the police. Actually, my question is whether the money we pay goes to the police officers.”
