The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court has ordered the immediate arrest and production before the court of the Asiri Private Hospital in Narahenpita.
This was due to their failure to appear in court for a case regarding the sale of medicines at a higher price to a resident patient of the hospital.
The Magistrate, after considering the requests made by Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama, who appeared on behalf of the plaintiff, and Attorney Ranjith Hillage, who appeared on behalf of Sanath Kumara Athukorala, who was aggrieved by the incident, decided to issue the relevant warrants.
The hospital is headed by prominent businessman Ashoka Pathirage, and the board of directors consists of seven members, including him.
