The Chief Incumbent of the Mihinthala Rajamaha Viharaya, Venerable Dr. Walawahangunawewe Dhammarathana Thero, has called for the arrest of Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Sunil Handunnetti under the Emergency Law.
The Thero said that action should be taken under the Emergency Law against politicians who spread false propaganda, and that Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala has instructed the police to arrest those who spread false propaganda, and accordingly, Minister Sunil Handunnetti should be arrested under the Emergency Law immediately.
The Thero criticized the disaster situation in the country and the damage caused to the people due to false information released to the media by some politicians.
The Thero emphasized that the statement made by Minister Sunil Handunnetti that a large body of water would enter the Malwathu Oya in Batticaloa was misleading the people.
The Mihintale Thero asked the parliamentarians to practice speaking and to provide geographical knowledge before the government introduces new subjects such as education reforms, jurisprudence and sex education.
