The Commission for the Prevention of Bribery or Corruption states that it has filed indictments before the Colombo High Court against former Minister of Petroleum Arjuna Ranatunga and his brother Dhammika Ranatunga, who is the Chairman of the Oil Corporation. The Commission stated this while filing the facts before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The Ranatunga brothers have been accused of canceling three long-term tenders that were scheduled to be held by the Petroleum Corporation for a period of six months from 2017 to 2018 and instead conducting 23 local tenders at higher prices, causing a loss of 800 million to the government.
