A prison guard who was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with serious injuries in the Negombo prison clash has died. Accordingly, the death toll in the clash has increased to 28.
On the morning of the 6th, for the second time, 7 officers of the Prison Special Tactics Unit lost their lives due to clashes that broke out in the Negombo prison. They were brutally attacked by prison inmates.
The bodies of the 7 prison officers who died in the clash were brought to the Welikada Prison this morning (08) for last respects.
After paying their last respects, the bodies were handed over to their family members.
