The Syrian government has issued a decree making it mandatory for Syrian women to wear the burqa on public beaches.
Foreign media reports that the decree was issued by Syria’s Islamic-led interim government.
Accordingly, it is mandatory for women to wear a burkini or other suitable clothing that covers the body except the face, hands and feet on public beaches and swimming pools.
However, it is stated that the relevant decree does not apply to private beaches, clubs and star-class hotels.
