The Fort Magistrate has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct an investigation and report the facts against Venerable Saddharathana Thero of Rajanganaya for issuing statements using obscene words on social media.
This order has been issued after considering the facts presented that the suspect thero has violated the bail conditions granted to him.
The court had strongly warned Venerable Saddharathana Thero not to use obscene words again when granting bail to him in July 2023.
However, despite the order, the lawyer of Venerable Ananda Sagara Thero of Pahiyangala, who appeared on behalf of the aggrieved party, informed the court that the thero continues to issue obscene statements on social media.
The suspect has been reported to the court for using obscene language and issuing statements targeting monks and lawyers.
The Magistrate, who informed the aggrieved party to hand over evidence and information related to this incident to the Criminal Investigation Department, ordered them to investigate and report to the court on April 22nd.
