An Iranian woman who came to Sri Lanka on the 8th with a fake Austrian passport was arrested this afternoon by the officials of the Immigration Department while trying to leave the country using the same passport.
According to immigration sources, the 53-year-old woman was arrested at the departure terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport while she was about to board an Indian Airlines flight to India.
A senior officer of the Immigration Department said that the Austrian passport of the woman was found to be forged in their computer system at the arrival terminal of the airport.
The authorities have also discovered through the system that this woman had left Tehran with her genuine Iranian passport to go to Dubai before coming to Sri Lanka.
