A ship carrying 38,000 metric tons of fuel will arrive today

According to high-level discussions between Sri Lanka and India on the supply of fuel, a ship carrying 38,000 metric tons of fuel is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (28).

This consignment includes 20,000 metric tons of diesel and 18,000 metric tons of petrol. This fuel consignment will be provided to Sri Lanka as per a decision taken during a telephonic conversation between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the 24th.

Lanka IOC had earlier obtained fuel supplies for the month of March from suppliers in the Middle East and Singapore. However, due to the conflict situation in the Middle East, supplies from the Middle East have become uncertain. In light of this situation, Sri Lanka requested emergency fuel supplies from India’s Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL).
