President Anura Dissanayake says that the MP who shouts that a thousand people died in the cyclone is obsessed with power.
He made this statement in Parliament today while delivering his reply to the Finance Ministry expenditure head.
The President, targeting the speech made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Kabir Hashim in Parliament recently, said that the person had to pay $120 million to finalize a Sri Lankan Air deal when he was a minister.
The President also said that his son-in-law has been leased a government land in the Hanthana area for a low price and that he will inform the Minister of Plantation Industries to conduct an investigation into the matter.
The account designated to collect funds for this disaster will continue to exist under the Secretary to the Treasury, he said, adding that a committee has been appointed to collect money for it.
The President said that it will take at least three years to overcome this crisis and that he hopes to pass a special provisions bill for that purpose.
