Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa said that he will bring a strong new bill to the new parliament as a private member’s motion that will allow legal action to be taken against defamatory and false allegations made in the political arena.
He said that even if the people who accused him of having 18 Lamborghinis and taking money to Uganda later claimed that they had made false statements, the damage caused to the him who were subjected to those allegations cannot be undone.
MP Namal Rajapaksa further stated that he also requests the government to take necessary steps to strengthen the law so that action can be taken against people who make false allegations in the political arena.
MP Namal Rajapaksa further expressed his views and said that he will give priority to correcting the damage caused to the name of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa due to such allegations.
