The Nallathanniya Police say that the road has been blocked due to the collapse of several pieces of plants growing on the rock at the top of the Sri Pada hill along with the soil.
The mound of earth with plants on the Nallathanniya Sri Pada road has fallen on the steps leading to the Sri Pada courtyard, near the eye pillar, where the previous mound of earth with plants collapsed, said Nallathanniya Police OIC Inspector R. Niroshan.
Until this blockage is cleared, local and foreign tourists traveling to the Sri Pada courtyard during the off-season can enter the Ratnapura road via Idikatu Pahana and proceed to the Sri Pada Udamaluwa, he says.
