A loss of 150 million rupees due to the strike of university non-academic staff

“University non-academic staff are currently on strike. This is unfortunate. This will affect the future generation of students. Due to these professional actions, there is a direct financial loss of around 150 million rupees. It should be said that it is a waste of 1.8 million people’s time. Therefore, our government does not want to waste even one more hour.” said Suresh Raghavan, Minister of State for Education.

That 1.1 billion rupees will be required for the next six months to fulfill the demands of these trade unions, including the wage increase. He said that a report has been called for in this regard and that discussions are also being held with the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury regarding how to provide solutions to the problem.

The Minister of State said that this will be discussed in the discussion to be held with the trade union leaders who are on strike.

Our hope is to reach a middle ground solution that both parties can agree on. President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government are waiting to provide the best solution in this regard. He mentioned.
