Diyagama Stadium to a private investor. Mahinda Rajapaksa name will also be removed.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage said at a media briefing held at the sports complex yesterday (11) that steps will be taken to remove the name of Mahinda Rajapaksa from the Diyagama International Stadium in Homagama very soon.

He said that the relevant sports complex is currently in a very dilapidated condition and a large amount of public money has been wasted.

For this reason, the Minister pointed out that he hopes to improve the sports complex together with private sector investors and that since no investor will invest money to maintain sports complexes in the name of Mahinda Rajapaksa, he will take steps to remove that name.

Stating that a special investigation has been initiated regarding the fraud and corruption that occurred during the construction of this sports complex, Minister Sunil Kumara said that although the work done is suitable for the name of Mahinda Rajapaksa, it is not suitable for the country or the international community.
