A hospital in Badulla closed due to landslide risk .

The Uva Provincial Health Ministry says that the Badulla Spring Valley Regional Hospital has been temporarily closed due to the prevailing landslide risk.

The workers of Spring Valley Estate and patients from 5 villages including Spring Valley are facing great difficulties due to the closure of this hospital.

Regarding this, Badulla District Secretary Prabath Abeywardena says that an investigation conducted by geologists from the National Building Research Organization has revealed that the slope of Namunukula Mountain in front of the hospital could pose a landslide risk to this hospital.

However, to minimize the inconvenience caused to patients, treatment has been started for outpatients at the Abhayapura Community Hall in the area, the District Secretary said. The District Secretary stated that the government is focusing on further examining the risk of the hospital and maintaining at least part of the hospital at this location.
