A foster scheme for poor children with the help of migrant workers.

Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said that they hope to start a foster system to meet the educational needs of poor children in their villages with the help of migrant workers.

Recently, he attended the World Labour Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, where he met a group of people from Marawala, a village not far from chilaw. They are living Geneva, and said that the group was running a special program for the children of their village.

Accordingly, the minister mentioned that English classes and computer classes will be held for the children and they will try to bring more tourists to their village.

He stated that taking this group as an example, a foster scheme should be started to meet the educational needs of children living in the poor villages of Sri Lanka.

Minister Manusha Nanayakkara mentioned this while participating in the inauguration of the ‘Jayagamu Sri Lanka – Puttalam District People’s Mobile Service’ which started yesterday at Shirley Koraya Stadium in Halawatha.
