Parliamentary sources say that out of the 120 housing units in the Madiwela complex near the Parliament complex, about 112 are ready to be provided upon the request of the MPs.
Accordingly, the maintenance and renovation work of about 45 houses has been completed and about 90 MPs have sent applications requesting housing facilities in the housing complex, the sources say.
Meanwhile, a private member’s motion is to be presented by SJB MP Hesha Withanage to abolish all facilities such as food, housing, insurance provided to MPs, a spokesperson for the party told our website.
