The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested 43 persons involved in illegal fishing activities during search operations conducted from March 25 to April 07, 2025.
The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Fisheries Investigation Office, has brought these groups to justice through these operations conducted in Palaminmadu, Vankale, Mandatheevu, Irakkandi, Ullankali Lagoon, Valachcheniya, Urani Lagoon, Oluthudai, Kadeikadu, Chundikulam, Batticaloa, Nawakkadu Lagoon, Vavunatheevu Lagoon and Walaipadu beaches and sea areas.
This group has been involved in illegal night diving, sea leechersr fishing, fishing with explosives and fishing with illegal nets.
The Navy has seized 45 illegal nets, 50,005 sea leechers, 13 dinghies, explosives and diving equipment from these individuals.
