According to a report issued by the National Audit Office, 252.86 million rupees was spent on 142 vehicles obtained on rental basis for the operation and administration of highways. Accordingly, it is stated that an average of 17 lakhs of rupees has been spent to pay rent for one vehicle per year.
In the year 2022, 169 vehicles were acquired on lease basis for operational and administrative purposes of highways.
Vehicles such as vans, cars, cabs, trucks etc. have been obtained from private parties on rent basis and for this the attention of the Public Business Committee has also been focused on the payment of a large amount of rent annually and the irregularities that may occur due to this.
