The Cabinet has approved the preparation of a bill to suspend the Special commodity tax Tax Act No. 48 of 2007.
The government says that this decision has been taken in consideration of the problems that have arisen in the implementation of taxes under that act.
Special commodity tax was introduced to levy single composite tax on import of 64 types of goods under 210 composite classification codes.
