Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Buddhadasa has ordered the release of Sagara Kariyawasam, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, who was arrested and produced before the court.
After the presentation of the facts by both parties in the legal case concluded at 4.30 pm today, the Magistrate postponed the announcement of the bail order.
Accordingly, after considering the facts presented by both parties after almost three hours, the 17-page bail order was announced.
At that time, the Magistrate also imposed two personal sureties of Rs. 2 million each and a foreign travel ban on Sagara Kariyawasam.
The court ordered the release of Sagara Kariyawasam after fulfilling the bail conditions.
The Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) arrested Sagara Kariyawasam this morning following an investigation into a statement made by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary regarding IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya on August 3rd.
