State Minister Diana Gamage said today (20) in the Parliament that Sujith Perera, a member of the S.J.B, attacked her in the Parliament Library. Making a special statement in front of the Parliament, she said that a legal inquiry should be conducted about this incident with the intervention of the speaker.
Commenting further, she said that she will take legal action regarding the harassment of women in Parliament.
However, replying to these allegations, MP Sujith Perera said that he did not commit such assault. He has said that if necessary, it can be checked through the security camera system.
With this incident, according to a proposal made by the Prime Minister, the proceedings of the Parliament were adjourned for a period of 10 minutes.
