Rs. 4,200 Million for the Air Force to Acquire Drones

Supplementary Estimate No. 8 of 2026, seeking an allocation of Rs. 4,261 million for the Sri Lanka Air Force, was passed in Parliament today (05) following a debate.

The estimate provides for this sum to be disbursed to the Sri Lanka Air Force through the Consolidated Fund, any other government-owned fund, or via government borrowings.

These funds are intended for the establishment of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system for the Sri Lanka Air Force. This initiative takes into account the evolving operational environment, as well as immediate threats arising from the vulnerability of the Bay of Bengal and surrounding regions to natural disasters and persistent adverse weather conditions.
