Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered, a short while ago, that Shiranthi Rajapaksa wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa be released on a cash bail of 10 million rupees (100 lakh rupees) and two personal sureties of 10 million rupees each.
The Magistrate issued this order after considering a recommendation by a medical board at the National Hospital of Colombo that Shiranthi Rajapaksa undergo bypass surgery, deeming this a special circumstance. It was revealed that there is an 80% blockage in her main coronary artery.
