Following an order issued by the Fort Magistrate’s Court prohibiting protests in front of the Presidential Secretariat, those participating in the satyagraha (sit-in protest) took steps to dismantle the temporary structures that had been erected near Galle Road. The police had requested the court to prohibit protests in front of the Presidential Secretariat, which is a high-security zone.
Accordingly, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court issued an order to this effect, and the police took steps to read and deliver the court order to the Buddhist monks who were protesting in front of the Presidential Secretariat.
