To Resolve Issues, One Must Remain in Power for Ten Years – Says Deputy Minister T.B. Sarath

T.B. Sarath, Deputy Minister of Housing, Construction, and Water Supply, states that while there are demands for the rapid execution of various development projects such as road construction within just a year or two of a government taking office, it is not practical to carry out all such tasks simultaneously. The Deputy Minister noted that the government also faces the challenge of navigating processes involving state officials. He remarked that a five-year term is insufficient to steer matters in a positive direction, drive development initiatives, and fulfill the aspirations of the people.

He further stated that, as public representatives who live among the people, they possess a clear understanding of the genuine problems the public faces. He emphasized that for a government to successfully complete development projects while addressing the real needs of the people, it must remain in power continuously for at least ten years.
