A statement issued by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) declares that the continued detention by Sri Lanka Customs of two Tamil-language works authored by writer Deepachelvam Pradeepan constitutes a violation of several fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
The statement was issued yesterday (12) under the signature of Nihal Chandrasiri, the Commission’s Media Spokesperson and Director of the Research and Monitoring Division.
The Human Rights Commission has recommended that the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs immediately release all detained copies of the works in question; the Commission made this recommendation while announcing its decision regarding case number HRC/KIL/031/26.
