The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs urges parents and guardians to exercise greater caution when posting photos and videos of children on social media.
The Ministry notes that the trend of uploading children’s photos and videos to the internet has risen alongside the emergence of methods to earn money via platforms like Facebook. It further states that information has come to light indicating that various individuals and organizations are exploiting such content—ostensibly shared to showcase children’s talents or playful activities—for commercial purposes.
The Ministry also warns that uploading videos and vlogs depicting children’s daily lives to social media can place their personal safety at serious risk.
Additionally, the Ministry points out the risk that photos and videos of children uploaded to the internet could be used to create obscene content through artificial intelligence technology.
