Journalists asked Minister Vijitha Herath how Shiranthi Rajapaksa was allowed to enter the prison premises in her vehicle to see Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who is currently remanded in custody.
The Minister, in response, said that she may have been granted permission because she is the wife of a former President.
Journalists asked the Minister whether it was a special privilege for Shiranthi Rajapaksa to be allowed to enter the prison grounds in her vehicle to visit Namal Rajapaksa, stating that an ordinary person is not even allowed to park a vehicle in front of a prison.
The Minister said that since Namal Rajapaksa has not been sentenced by the court yet, he is a remanded prisoner and said that he would investigate the specific information regarding this and make a statement later.
