A luxury car that was driving on the Southern Expressway this morning (07) veered off the road and crashed into a guardrail. The accident occurred at 32.4 km from Dodangoda.
A woman in the car sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The car involved in the accident was on its way to the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake and back to Matara when it hit a covered roadblock that had been put up for maintenance, police said, and then drove forward and crashed into the guardrail in the middle of the road.
The accident caused severe damage to the central guardrail and roadblocks on the expressway, as well as the car itself.
