Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (04) ordered the remand of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in connection with the Airbus deal, until the 18th.
The Magistrate issued this order after considering the facts presented by the lawyers of both parties.
Namal Rajapaksa was arrested and produced before the court on suspicion of accepting a bribe of 0.8 million US dollars in the Airbus aircraft purchase incident.
The arrest was carried out when the MP arrived at the Commission this morning (04) to give a statement.
